Job Description SUMMARY: Direct the creativity and delivery of the highest level of catered event, meeting experience and group to all event stakeholders and participants. Work closely with the Director of Food & Beverage and Executive Chef to support positioning the hotel event facilities and catering services on the highest quality tier. Lead and manage the day-today activities related to group and catering sales efforts. Achieve and maintain budgeted goals. Actively contribute in the development of the sales strategy in conjunction with the Director of Revenue Management and achieve personal booking goals.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:  Create and implement strategic prospecting plans.  Actively participate, orchestrate and initiate projects.  Generate high yielding business for all contracted rooms, function space and catering events.  Develop, implement and manage yield management strategies on all function space.  Maintain and update Catering forecast weekly.  Build extensive social networks within the local community to foster direct lines of communication with key social and business contacts in order to foster solid relationships and future business opportunities.  Create and maintain local email contact list to keep local decision makers informed about the product and services.  Work with the Executive Chef to customize spectacular and original themed menus and event concepts.  Generate Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s)  Interact with clients to determine needs.  Negotiate, prepare and write contracts and enter information into the diary book.  Communicate with sales, front office and reservations to coordinate and monitor guest room blocks and special reservation needs.  Assign banquet/meeting rooms set up based on needs of clients.  Review banquet personnel’s work to ensure accuracy.  Monitor in house group activity providing assistance as needed such as organizing exhibit set up.  Establish rapport with and entertain meeting planners while promoting hotel facilities and services. Conduct walking site inspections throughout property.  Manage Conference Services Manager and Wedding Coordinator.  Conduct weekly sales meetings with immediate direct reports and sales task force.  Prepare and present monthly sales reports.  Attend weekly revenue meetings.

OTHER: Due to the cyclical nature of our industry, the position may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs. Due to the hospitality nature of our industry, the incumbent may be required to work on weekends and/or on observed holidays. The employee must be able to work at a minimum 40 hours per week at the property. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration or related field.  Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Director of Catering Sales; sales experience with a luxury brand preferred.  Experience in Food and Beverage preferred.  Record of accomplishment of success.  Ability to balance workload that involves following up with past third-party clients & end-user group contacts, day-to-day obligations and growing future business.  Very strong written, interpersonal and presentation skills.  Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Jonas preferred.  Able to demonstrate flexibility to the customer and successfully negotiate business in person, and over the phone.  Team player who fosters good work relationships with a positive mental attitude.  Exceptionally detail-oriented and desire to proactively assist colleagues and guests who need help.  Able to work independently as well as part of a team.  Previous experience working in for a luxury hotel brand preferred.  Strong social and community contacts in the Naples, area preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS – ABILITY TO:  Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.  Make decisions quickly and easily; effectively multi-task with tight deadlines both independently and within team environment.  Prioritize, organize, delegate work and follow through with assigned tasks.  Be a clear thinker, remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment.  Handle multiple tasks at one time while maintaining a high level of professionalism.  Direct performance of team and follow up with corrections where needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS – ABILITY TO:  Grasp, lift, push/pull, carry or transport up to 50 lbs. Ability to push/pull wheeled carts weighing up to 100 lbs.  Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach with hands and arms.  Stand for length of scheduled shift.  Express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly and quickly.  Perceive the nature of sounds at a normal speaking level and make fine discriminations in sound.  Have visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
