Client is also located 30 minutes south of Annapolis, the state capital. This new addition to their team Assistant Inspirational Leader will work with Owner’s executive committee and directly with the Owner in an intensive year long training program designed to cross train the individual in all departments and also in the vital areas of Public Relations and community awareness as well as  responsible business management.

They will spend about 33% of their time with the sales and design team learning the company’s philosophies and best practices with respect to guest relations. The Company’s mission is “to treat every visitor  as our personal guest”.

They will be expected to support the sales team and carry out owner’s intentions in providing guidance and creating company sales incentives. They will be charged to earn the confidence and respect of the owner, insofar as judgement and management practices.  Owner is looking for someone to trust that their natural and authentic attributes are appropriate, inspiring and effective in the success of Herrington on the Bay’s profitable sales and operational initiatives.

Their main attributes must include –  independent workmanship for the fulfillment of the company Vision, Mission, and Purpose. They must be a true team leader with a knack for identifying an individual staff and/or management member’s natural talents and helping to develop these talents for the betterment of the individual and their contribution to the company’s overall business success.

They must love healthy foods and understand cooking and have an appreciation for the culinary arts. Experience in the culinary arena is a plus. They must have an appreciation for the Earth, the people, and their personal role as “caretaker” of both.  This company works under a Green Contract with an independent third party for authentication of eco-friendly practices.

PURPOSE:  (Once trained) To serve as a liaison between the owner and the executive team of a high-end waterfront event venue and full service culinary team.  Executive Team includes Operations Director, Controller, Human Resources Manager, Executive Chef, and Facilities Manager. To serve as the resort interface individual who communicates clearly with other departments of the Marina Resort in which our company resides.  AVL will serve in a leadership and management role vital to the ongoing and day to day operations.

CORE DUTIES: Collaborate daily with the owner and  4 Executive Team members for daily operations and formally meet weekly in Executive Team Meetings with said members and owner for weekly goals and operations of the company.  Meet monthly for long term planning.   In absence of owner, lead said meetings (after a specified training period).

Support the Event Designers (Sales Team) in achieving monthly sales goals by coaching and counseling designers in their quest to gain clarity of client’s needs and in designing events to meet client’s vision and provide for profitable events for the company.

To serve as the steward of Community Relations on behalf of company and to help the company be a conscious  neighbor to all surrounding “stakeholders” (those who are affected by the existence and operations of the company; from the landlord to local communities, the environment, clients, vendors, etc.).


Must have relevant foodservice experience, sales/marketing experience, college degree preferred.  Must be mature, eco-sensitive, authentic, strong belief in people and their abilities.  Must have culinary/food knowledge and appreciation.  Inspired by improving life’s experiences for others.

Must understand basic business finance and concepts including gross revenue, gross profit, direct costs and general and administrative costs.

Must have some experience with project management, repairs and maintenance, and/or renovation or building projects.
